Description
The Russian Jupiter-8M is a high quality lens for the Contax/Kiev type rangefinder cameras. It was sold as a standard lens on the most common Kiev models – Kiev-4 and Kiev-4a. The lens is an improved version of the original Zeiss Sonnar 50/2 copy, Jupiter-8.
The aperture dial was engraved on both sides of the lens, so the settings are visible regardless of the lens position. The aperture was set in the fixed (with stop-clicks) positions. And the name was changed to Jupiter-8M.

For $19 you cannot go wrong. This lens fits my Contax IIIa perfectly and the focus is even smoother than my Sonnar 50/2. FSU equipments are great for their value but they are not cheap in quality! The price is based on the quantity. There are so many copies that is why the price is not inflated so high. Yuri’s service is the best! Excellent communication and super sonic fast shipping! Ordered on Wed. and was able to shoot with the Jupiter on Sat. Fedka is THE place for FSU equipments. Period!

The Jupiter-8M arrived well-packed and exactly as described – clean, and optically-mechanically excellent. It fitted nicely to my prewar Contax II. In use, the Jupiter-8M produces pictures with sharpness and tonality equal to the prewar f/2 Sonnar, but with higher contrast and flare control, due to factory-applied coatings. Image quality is surprisingly good wide-open, and improves as the lens is stopped-down. The build quality is also very good. It is a wonderful lens for Kievs and Contax cameras at a budget price. Yuri also answered all my emails quickly and politely, and the buying/shipping process was handled excellently.
